November 27, 2008 at 19:29:45 GMT

Vincent Danen /*is*/ was about to be the first victim and the clear syndrome that the new CEO is dumber than Dilbert's Pointy-Haired Boss. Update2: Adam Williamson is however a sure victim.

vdanen, in Bon Voyage, Mandriva!: «Well, I received some horrid news today. As of December 31st, my contract with Mandriva will be terminated and I will no longer be working for Mandriva. We’ve got a new CEO now, and he’s determined there is to be no remote contractors, and as a result I’ve been booted from the camp, so to speak. Over the last 8.5 years, I’ve seen CEOs come and go, restructures, other remote contractors get the boot, I’ve lived through the bankruptcy protection, been denied raises due to financial circumstances. Pre-bankruptcy protection I endured getting paid piecemeal as they could afford it… in short, I’ve literally put blood, sweat, and tears into my job for this company and have endured where others did not… I’ve stayed on when others left, and I’ve managed to avoid the axe when others got cut. Well, that changed this morning.»

Hervé Yahi, le couillon du siècle.

UPDATE & ERRATUM: «Apparently it was a mistake that my name was on the chopping block. [...] The phone call from our new CEO ensures me that my contract is not being terminated.»

Hervé Yahi, toujours le couillon du siècle.

UPDATE 11/28: But Adam Williamson is indeed on the list of people no longer with Mandriva: Bye bye.

"Over the last 2 hours there has been a flurry of communication. Thank you *so* much to those folks who commented here and have sent me emails. It is very much appreciated. I am not, however, leaving. Apparently it was a mistake that my name was on the chopping block. So, for the time being at least, I am not going anywhere. The phone call from our new CEO ensures me that my contract is not being terminated."

I am sad to see Adam fired, as he has been very good in PR's and tech help in general user's forum... I think he will be missed for that... I am not really a Mandriva user, although I sometimes set it up on some customer's box whenever it doesn't handle any Debian offsprings...
I am wondering if (once again) Mandriva is going down the drain...
Maybe there will be some irony in all that, and Adam will get hired by Canonical (after is famous blog post denouncing Mark's sabotage of the FLOSS world !)

With the asssss-hole!

In other news, some naïve people are writing open letters to such a jerk:

Well, in the face of capitalism, open letters and petitions = zero. Maybe in a democracy they'd count .. but there's no such thing! Arghh!

Petitions don't work in capitalism: it isn't about a "democratic decision", it's about how a (usually dumb) CEO understands to lead a company.

Roi des Cons (cf Brassens) - December 02, 2008 at 10:04:27 GMT
